Winter Christmas House

Picture for project Winter Christmas House

Even if it doesn’t snow where you live, you can still create your very own winter wonderland with a little help from Duncan! This cozy cottage doesn’t require a kiln … create the look with Duncan Bisq-Stain Opaque Acrylics and Duncan No-Fire Snow.

  1. Remove rubber stopper from base of bank.
  2. Wipe ware with damp sponge to remove bisque dust.
  3. Trace patterns onto contact paper and cut out.
  4. Remove backing from each pattern cutout and adhere to sides of house. Refer to photo for placement.
  5. Use ruler to measure a 3mm section around door to create door frame. Draw a window on top center of front door.
  6. Using the No. 1 Liner, paint a coat of Dark Yellow in windowpanes around house and on door, and let dry.
  7. Brush one or two coats of Barnyard Red onto house, painting around window frames, doorframe and over the stenciled off snowman, trees and shrubbery on the front of the house. Paint the bottom of the house as well. Let dry and remove stencils.
  8. Brush White onto windowpanes, doorframe and snowman on back of house.
  9. Brush one or two coats of Christmas Green onto trees, shrubbery and trim around roof.
  10. Dip handle end of paintbrush into the Dark Yellow and dot ornaments on wreath, shrubs and trees. Embellish further as desired by dipping end of paintbrush in Barnyard Red and dotting additional ornaments on greenery.
  11. Mix a tiny amount of Barnyard Red into the Dark Yellow to make an Orange. Use the No. 1 Liner to paint carrot nose on snowman. Brush on hat and arms with Black, then accent the ribbon on hat and scarf with Christmas Green.
  12. Dip paintbrush end into Black and dot eyes, mouth and buttons. Paint divider lines inside door window.
  13. Dip handle end of paintbrush into White and make dots all over house to simulate snow falling.
  14. Stir No-Fire Snow with palette knife. Using Round brush, apply snow to window ledges, top of doorframe, sections of greenery and snowman.
  15. Apply snow around base of house.
  16. Using palette knife, spread snow over roof, working around the coin slot. Use brush to create dripping snow on the eaves. Let dry.
